Persephone is the Goddess of Spring and the Queen of the Underworld.
This archetype speaks to me deeply, and it is probably the one that resonates the most with my experience of life.
Persephone is the goddess of spring. She embodies the image of a carefree and radiant young woman until something happens to her: she is kidnapped by Hades, who takes her to his realm: the Underworld, the realm of the dead. She then becomes Queen of the Underworld, spending half of the year in this underground realm, reigning with Hades, and the other half on Earth in her role as the goddess of spring, overseeing the return and maintenance of vegetation.
Persephone represents the balance between light and shadow, between the surface and the depths.
Spirituality cannot be superficial, if we want to embody more light, we must also embody our shadows and not be victim of them.
Let’s stop being afraid of our shadow.
The shadow can create suffering, and ignoring it with positive thoughts only allows it to bury itself deeper within us and take root there.
“I’m fine, everything is fine”
When the house is burning, repeating mantras and positive thoughts won’t change the situation.
Yes, positive thoughts help us to learn to accept a situation, to navigate through the storm calmly, without being overtaken by suffering. They help us avoid running around the burning house in panic, creating drafts that feed the fire. Positive thinking is good for learning how to navigate life.
But as long as we don’t take the time to turn off the gas fueling the fire, our inner house will keep burning.
The memories of our traumas, whether conscious or unconscious, are inflammations that we carry in our bodies and minds.
They impact our lives, our relationship with ourselves, our relationships with others, and our outlook on life.
Persephone was not a suffering victim in the Underworld, she became its Queen.
It’s about diving into ourselves to see what lies there and becoming sovereign in our inner kingdom.
This time of ascension that we are currently experiencing is challenging due to the sense of chaos it makes us experience, but it is also a gift: the frequencies we are reaching give us access to vibrational arts of great gentleness to explore our depths and bring back peace.
There are little us in our depths waiting to be found, waiting for us to take up our role as the Queen of the Underworld.
Our underground world can become a fertilizer for living an even more luxuriant spring on Earth 🌱🤍
